Champlain Valley Fair in Essex Junction, Vermont
August 21 - October 2
Vermont’s ten best days of summer. Animals, agriculture, food, rides, concerts and fun! The Champlain Valley Fair is Vermont’s largest country fair, running 10 days and drawing nearly 280,000 visitors for agricultural exhibits, midway, concerts and commercial exhibits.
“When the fair is in full bloom, we have about 400 employees, plus the midway employees on top of that, plus all the food vendors have their employees,” said Chris Ashby from The Champlain Valley Expo. “There’s a lot of people here. We kind of tongue-in-cheek say, for the 10 days of the fair we are the third largest city in Vermont.”
The rides have arrived on the grounds and piece by piece, they are coming together.
“We bring in an independent inspector, who comes in and inspects the rides,” Ashby said. “So we can feel really safe about them. He goes through with them, with
the ride company, they work in conjunction.”
Essex police said if you plan on seeing a concert, arrive early.
They will also have officers on the fairgrounds and directing traffic during busy times.
